A developer and a composer making games where sound is part of the design from day one.
PikoWorks is two people. A developer who builds the game, and a composer who scores it. We kept the team this small because it makes for a tighter creative process, not despite it.
When the person writing the music is in the room while the mechanics are being designed, things fit together differently. That's the whole idea.
We don't score a finished game. The music gets written alongside the design, responding to the same questions: how should this feel, what should this moment communicate, when should it breathe.
Every game we release will have an original score. That's not a feature, it's just how we work.
Systems, mechanics, engine work. The focus is on how things feel to play, not just whether they run.
Composed in-house, every time. Written with the game in mind, not added at the end.
UI, animation, overall aesthetic. We try to make the visuals and sound pull in the same direction.
Rules, pacing, level flow. Finding the simplest version of an idea that still has depth.
First project is in the works. No release date yet. We'd rather take the time to get it right.
Nothing to show yet.
